About Kayakoy

Kayakoy is known world wide for its famous “ghost town”. The ruins are a relic of the population exchange at the end of the Greco/Turk War in the early 1920s.

As a result, the village is a protected area and construction is usually strictly limited by law. However, this renovation has been carried out with all the proper authorisation and documentation.

As well as its small, close-knit community, Kayakoy’s location helps to ensure cooler summer temperatures. Established footpaths also lead to the secluded bays, the beach resort of Oludeniz and Fethiye itself.

As an increasingly popular tourism destination, the village also boasts a good selection of bars and restaurants. Kayakoy is also just a short distance away from the bright lights of the popular summer resort of Hisaronu and the world-renowned beach and Blue Lagoon at Oludeniz.
