About Kalkan
Kalkan is a harbour town on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Athough it is a popular place, frequented mainly by upper-middle class tourists of all nationalities, it is not over-developed and has maintained its authentic Turkish village feel.
The town is part of the famous Turquoise Coast and within easy reach of well-known historical sites. These include the beach and ruins at Patara – reputed to be the birthplace of St Nicholas – and Kaputas Beach, which are both close by.
Although in the Antalya province, Kalkan is more closely related to Fethiye. It was first established as a fishing port and the only safe harbour between Kaş and Fethiye. White-washed houses decorate the coastline, many adorned with brightly-coloured bougainvillea.
The town averages 300 days of sunshine a year. Visitors are mostly those looking for a more relaxed or romantic destination rather than the bright lights of some of the bigger resorts.
Members of the KHI team speak English, Turkish or Portuguese. We have offices in Fethiye, Bodrum and Istanbul as well as in Lisbon and Edinburgh.
